We are Jordan and Bethany Whiteley, and we live in Grand Rapids, MI with our two biological children, Jimmy and Katherine. Jordan works as a software developer, and Bethany stays home with the kids. Jimmy is 5 and in preschool. He likes Legos and playing his violin. Katherine is 3 and enjoys pretend play, books, and singing. We are a close-knit, happy family that loves each other and our Lord. We are so excited to have the privilege of adding Mikah to our family!
When we were discussing the possibility of adopting Mikah, we wondered whether or not we could handle all his needs, and how much our lives would have to change to accommodate those needs. We kept coming back to the selfless love of Jesus Christ when He gave His life for us, and how He calls us to show that same love and compassion to those around us. So the theme of our blog is “Loving in Deed and Truth” after the call given to us in I John 3:16-18:
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
